Today, Bumrungrad is one of the most recognized healthcare brand names in the world. We enjoy a reputation for outstanding medical care -- especially tertiary care for complicated diseases requiring collaboration of expertise from transdisciplinary areas.

Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and has garnered awards from international organizations in recognition of our world-class standards. More than 1.1 million patients from over 190 countries travel to Thailand each year to receive medical treatment and care at Bumrungrad International Hospital. This is a far cry from our modest origins as a 200-bed general hospital almost 40 years ago.

Four key factors have helped build the trust and confidence that patients have in Bumrungrad. First and foremost is our reputation for the highest quality and safety standards in the medical treatment and care we provide. This is evidenced by accreditations and recognition by international organizations. Secondly, we have sought the most highly skilled medical staff in every field, setting up multi-disciplinary teams comprising doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists, nutritionists, medical technologists and others. This patient-centered approach ensures smooth and effective collaboration as we provide treatment and care to our patients. Thirdly, our attitude and ambition as an early-adopter of innovation and advanced technology allow us to capture new healthcare trends and to develop prevention and treatment plans for individual patients. Finally, the longstanding trust that patients place in Bumrungrad for compassionate care. Together, these four factors allow us to deliver the best medical treatment and care possible, while creating a positive experience for our patients.

During 2018, the global healthcare industry has faced challenges. Many leading hospitals have revised their strategies to focus even more on quality, safety and clinical outcomes. Healthcare leaders around the world, especially in Asia, are therefore looking for new technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data and other cost-effective ways to deliver a better and more personalized care.

As we look ahead, Bumrungrad is focusing on key strategies to maintain Thailand’s position as the leading healthcare destination in Asia-Pacific. The uniqueness of our focus is to shift from volume-based to value-based care which will implement further technology to help us achieve even higher standards of operational efficiency, clinical excellence and patient care. We increasingly use AI, robotic-assisted surgery and big data together with our integrative healthcare approach, which blends preventive and traditional treatments. These new technologies combine seamlessly to ensure a positive patient experience. For example, we have completed our digital transformation to TrakCare, our electronic medical record (EMR) solution, in 2018. This is already yielding benefits in terms of patient safety, efficiency, big data management and patient satisfaction.

Yet despite our focus on technology and innovation, we will not lose touch with the cornerstone of our success: the trust we have built over nearly 40 years.
